Applications for the initial registration of a vehicle with diplomatic plates, as well as applications for any procedures involving a vehicle already registered with diplomatic plates, shall continue to be submitted to the Ministry, and all procedures concerning vehicles with diplomatic plates will continue to be carried out on the basis of a confirmation letter issued by the Ministry. However, the licence plate or a duplicate plate will henceforth be collected from the Transport Administration, and upon deregistration of the vehicle, the licence plate must also be returned to the Transport Administration.
In connection with the above, the Ministry kindly requests all embassies to return any unused diplomatic licence plates in their possession to the State Protocol Department by 20 March 2026 at the latest, so that they can be handed over to the Transport Administration. We also ask you to arrange a time for delivering the plates in advance by calling the Protocol Department at 637 7500 or by emailing [email protected].
