In order to ensure a smooth application of the Entry/Exit System (EES) and the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS), the Commission has prepared a series of guidance documents, available at this link: https://travel-europe.europa.eu/ees
Diplomats, who arrive in Estonia for the first time and apply for accreditation while still in Estonia will have their arrival registered in the EES. This includes the capture of biometric data such as fingerprints and facial images. Once they receive accreditation and a diplomatic ID card, their biometric data file will be deleted from the EES.
Diplomats having valid accreditation to Estonia and hold a valid diplomatic ID card are exempt from EES checks.
Therefore, starting October 12, the Ministry kindly requests that the note verbale requesting the issuance of a diplomatic ID card for non-EU nationals also include details of the passport used for border crossing.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Diplomatic Missions accredited to Estonia the assurances of its highest consideration.
