The focus of the talks was on the region’s cooperation formats and ways of enhancing cooperation in the future. “Estonia and the Nordic countries have a lot in common, and through history, we have strived for the success model of Nordic countries. Due to our unique geographic position and the current security situation, cooperation with the NCM is more important than ever for Estonia,” Tsahkna said.
“We absolutely agreed that the Nordic-Baltic format was working very well,” Tsahkna said. “We have the same values and goals, and now that both Finland and Sweden have joined NATO, our movement in the same direction is even more fluent.”
“We noted that Estonia can contribute to cooperation in education and e-education. I also highlighted Estonia’s strengths in business diplomacy and technological innovation,” Tsahkna added. He emphasised Estonia’s capabilities in researching the opportunities and challenges of AI, spoke about our experience in digitalising state services, and gave an overview of the development of the personal state.
Speaking of the war in Ukraine, Tsahkna highlighted support for war refugees and the efforts of the state to offer them a good living environment in Estonia. “The main and greatest concern is the mental health of war refugees and access to help. I think this could be where we could take our cooperation further.” Tsahkna and Ellemann said that during these difficult times, we must take care of people’s spirit and resilience in society as a whole.
