Foreign Ministry Coming Events: 10 – 16 June 2013

10-14.06 Ten representatives of Georgian civil society will be in Estonia for a study visit. The visit was organised by Praxis and supported by funding from the Foreign Ministry.

11.06 The first flight of the Turkish national airline Turkish Airlines to Tallinn will take place. At 14.30 Foreign Minister Urmas Paet will participate in a press conference at Tallinn Airport on the occasion of the opening of the new flight.

11-13.06 A plenary meeting of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) will take place in Berlin. The Estonian delegation will be led by Estonian Ambassador to Israel Malle Talvet-Mustonen.

14.06 Foreign Minister Urmas Paet will meet with Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill, who will be on a visit in Estonia.

14.06 The European Union trade ministers will meet at the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg. They will discuss preparations for the IX World Trade Organisation ministerial, European Union-Canada economic relations, and European Union-USA economic relations. They will also discuss trade and investment relations with China.

Cultural events taking place abroad:

10-16.06 The Academic Male Choir of Tallinn University of Technology will begin a concert tour in Italy. Three concerts introducing Estonian choir music will be given in Rome and nearby areas: in Itri, Villa Giulia, and the hall of the Vatican Institute of Sacred Music. In the Vatican the choir will be joined by Villu Veski and Tiit Kalluste as well as singer Toomas Kutter, who will be accompanied by pianist Johan Randvere and kannel virtuoso Kristi Mühling.

12-16.06 A unique public diplomacy mission called “Everyone’s Going to Yerevan” will take place in Yerevan and many other Armenian cities. During the five days over 40 cultural events will take place, and participants will include the Estonian National Male Choir, Hortus Musicus, Jaan Toomik, Tallinn Dance Theatre, and many others. A total of nearly 340 Estonian cultural representatives will be going to Yerevan. The event is being led by the director of AS Corpore Meelis Kubits.

15-16.06 The Estonian National Male Choir will give two concerts in Georgia. The first will be on 15 June in the Georgian war refugee village of Tserovan and the other on 16 June at the Tbilisi Music Centre. The choir will be conducted by Mikk Üleoja.

13.06 An Estonia day will take place in Itri, Italy. Estonian choir music will be introduced by the Academic Male Choir of Tallinn University of Technology and Kristi Mühling will talk about the traditions of kannel music. A joint exhibit of Estonian artist Anatoli Strahhov and Italian artist Romanno Soscia will be opened in the castle in Itri.

14.06 The launch of the Lithuanian translation of Leelo Tungal’s book “Seltsimees laps” will take place in the bookshop of the Europa Shopping Centre in Vilnius.

15.06 A Baltic Summer Celebration will be held at Villa Giulia in Rome. Handicraft master Lembe Sihvre will participate, Kristi Mühling will introduce the kannel, an ancient Fenno-Baltic instrument, and the Academic Male Choir of Tallinn University of Technology together with Estonian Song and Dance Celebration Foundation will introduce the song and dance celebration that is to take place in Tallinn in 2014. The male choir will also give a concert in the gardens of Villa Giulia.
