“Azerbaijan is an important partner for Estonia in the South Caucasus. In recent years, our relations have grown significantly closer, and we have consistently expanded our cooperation in the fields of digital affairs, trade, green technologies and logistics,” Foreign Minister Tsahkna said.
“Several Estonian companies are already operating successfully in Azerbaijan, particularly in the development of digital services. The business delegation of nearly 20 companies that visited Baku last year also demonstrated the broader interest in the Azerbaijani market,” Tsahkna noted. “We are actively working to further expand bilateral business cooperation and make it easier for our companies to access the Azerbaijani market.”
“However, we also see good opportunities to deepen our relations further in other areas, particularly energy and education. The strengthening of our partnership is also reflected in Estonia’s new embassy in Baku, which I have the honour of officially opening at the end of this month,” he added.
At the fourth meeting of the Cooperation Commission, both sides reaffirmed their readiness to strengthen trade and agricultural ties through regular meetings, business contacts and the exchange of experience. They also agreed to continue promoting joint initiatives in the fields of digital affairs, innovation and technology, including the application of artificial intelligence.
Discussing energy issues, both sides confirmed their desire to increase the involvement of Estonian companies and investors in Azerbaijan’s green transition projects. In discussions on digital affairs, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, they explored ways to increase Estonia’s contribution to the development of digital solutions in Azerbaijan and promote regular exchanges of experts.
The two sides also discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in the fields of climate, tourism, education and culture.
