Today 4 October, Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna met with Qais Al Yousef, Minister Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotios of the Sultanate of Oman, speaking about cooperation between the two countries, the conflict in the Middle East and the war in Ukraine.

“Just like Estonia, Oman is a pioneer in innovative solutions, and our ICT experts and companies already enjoy long-standing cooperation, mainly in developing government e-services,” Tsahkna said. “There is definitely potential for deeper cooperation in other areas, such as green technologies, mining and novel solutions in the health and education sectors.” The minister also proposed establishing an Estonia-Oman business council aimed at boosting business between the two countries. 

Minister Tsahkna spoke about Estonia’s aspirations for quick progress in IT innovation by engaging with the shared visions and desires of both the private and the public sector. 

The ministers also spoke about events in the Middle East and Tsahkna underlined Estonia’s concern over the tense situation in the region. The ministers also covered support for Ukraine. “It is crucial to build the peace process on the principles of international law and the UN Charter,” Tsahkna said.
