In his remarks at the opening ceremony, Ambassador Lubi highlighted that the expansion of Estonia's honorary consular network to Lille will further strengthen ties between Estonia and France.
"Estonia and France are trusted partners whose cooperation spans defence, trade, education and tourism at the national, regional and business levels," said Lubi. "The opening of the Honorary Consulate in Lille will create new opportunities for closer people-to-people and business links between our countries. It will also serve as an important point of assistance for Estonian visitors to the region."
Lubi noted that Dahmani is exceptionally well suited to the role of honorary consul. "Salim brings extensive expertise in technology and innovation and has a strong understanding of the region's development priorities. We are highly optimistic about the opportunities to deepen cooperation in this strategically important part of France," he said.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Bruno Cavaco, Dean of the Honorary Consular Corps of Hauts-de-France, and Jean-Gabriel Delacroy, Secretary General of the Prefecture.
Estonia now has five honorary consuls in France, based in Lille, Marseille, Bordeaux, Lyon and Strasbourg. The Honorary Consulate in Lille is located at 31 Rue des Fossés, 59000 Lille.
