Delegation of the USA Senate to visit Estonia
2005-06-14 15:25:11A five-member official delegation of the USA Senate, headed by Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on European Affairs Gordon Smith, will pay a visit to Estonia on Saturday, 25 May. The purpose of the Senators’ visit is to examine Estonia’s defence capability.
Senators are to meet with President Lennart Meri, Deputy Speaker of the Riigikogu Tunne Kelam, Prime Minister Mart Laar, Minister of Foreign Affairs Toomas Hendrik Ilves and Minister of Defence Jüri Luik. The Senate delegation will also visit Paldiski Peace Operations Centre and Ämari Air Surveillance Operation Centre.
President of Estonia and USA Senators will meet with the Press in Kadriorg Palace on Saturday, 26 May at 6.00 p.m..
The USA Senators will be in Estonia in connection with the meeting of NATO Parliamentary Assembly held in Vilnius.

11.00 - Military exercise and demonstration of armoury at Paldiski (TV, photo; photographers and TV-operators are expected to show up at 10.30 at the Peace Operations Centre)
15.00 - Meeting with Deputy Speaker of the Riigikogu Tunne Kelam and Members of Parliament at Toompea Castle (beginning; TV, photo)
15.30 - Meeting with Prime Minister Mart Laar at Stenbock House (beginning; TV, photo)
16.15 - Sightseeing tour in the Old Town guided by Prime Minister Mart Laar (beginning from Stenbock House; TV, photo)
18.00 - Meeting of Estonian President and USA Senators with the Press in Kadriorg Palace. The meeting will last 20 minutes,
Media representatives are expected to show up 15 minutes before the time mentioned in this programme.
