Blond haired Estonian beauty Carmen Kass is one of the most famous superstars in the world of international modelling.
Carmen Kass was born in Tallinn on 14 September 1978. She started her career with the local agency "Baltic Models". Carmen had won several minor local Miss titles and was about to compete for the Miss Estonia title, when she was whisked off to Milan. At the age of 14, Carmen had been spotted and approached by an Italian model scout in a local supermarket. Her mother had refused to sign her release papers, so Carmen signed them herself.
She
has become part owner of the Tallinn modelling agency for which she used to work.
In 2000, she was selected the Model of the Year by the fashion magazine Vogue. Carmen also beat out Giselle Bundchen as the most used runway model after appearing in more then 20 shows. She has graced the cover of US-Vogue, Italian-Vogue, Ireland-Image, Numéro, and Madame Figaro and models for, among others, Christian Dior, Versace, Chanel, Max Mara, Valentino, Donna Karan, Ungaro, and Victoria’s Secret among others. However, she is still best known for her GAP denim campaign.
Carmen shows her intelligent side with her love for chess. She was elected president of the Estonian National Chess League in 2004. Carmen has also tried her hand in acting, where she had a small part in the movie, Zoolander and she the leading actress in the Estonian movie "Täna öösel me ei maga" released in January 2004.
