Bilateral relations

The Sultanate of Oman recognized the Republic of Estonia on 22 September 1991. Diplomatic relations were established on 23 September 1992.

In January 2012, Mr. Lauri Bambus, Estonian first Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman presented the credential letter to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said.

April 2009 – Mr. Urmas Paet, Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs visit to Muscat, Oman

Bilateral agreements

  • Memorandum of Understanding between The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communication of the Republic of Estonia and The Information Technology Authority of the Sultanate of Oman in the field of information and communication technology. Signed on April 30, 2012 in Muscat.

Economic Relations

Estonia and Oman have good opportunities to develop the bilateral cooperation in economic relations. In 2011 Oman ranked in 68th place among Estonian's trade partners.

The main articles of export were peat (51,3%) and machinery and mechanical appliances (boards, panels, consoles; electrical apparatus for switching or protecting electrical circuits) (31,6%).

The main articles of import were aluminum wire (99,9%) and textiles (0,1%).
