27 October (BNS)
The Estonian Red Cross has started collecting donations for victims of the earthquake in Turkey and flooding in Thailand. The donations will be forwarded to local sister organisations to help satisfy the basic needs of the population.
Money can be paid into special Red Cross accounts 1180001436 at Swedbank and 10220039608010 at SEB under the keywords Turkish earthquake and Thai flooding.
The eastern part of Turkey was hit on 23 October by a 7.2 magnitude quake with its epicenter near the city of Van, which was followed by several strong aftershocks. The Turkish government turned to the international community with a request for assistance on Wednesday and has to date accepted aid from 30 countries.
Floods in Thailand that have gone on since July have inundated a third of the country's territory and killed more than 350 people.
