Waste Recycling More Than Doubled in Estonia in 2010

A total of 7 138 893 tons of waste was recycled in Estonia during 2010, which makes up about one-third of the total amount of waste generated in the country, figures released by Statistics Estonia on Wednesday show.

Total waste income was 20 311 473 tons, of which 19 500 404 tons was generated in Estonia and 811 069 tons imported.

Of the waste, 11 661 834 tons was disposed in landfills and 7 138 893 tons recycled. The amount of waste recycled grew more than 2.5-fold over 2009.
