Trade with Estonia
In 2012, the export of goods totalled 12.6 billion euros and total imports amounted to 13.8 billion euros. According to Statistics Estonia, in 2012 the exports of goods at current prices increased by 4% and imports by 9% compared to 2011. Estonian foreign trade is mainly based on strong economic ties with Finland, Sweden, Russia, Latvia, Germany and Lithuania, as well as with other countries.
The main countries of destination were Sweden (15.9% of Estonia’s total exports), Finland (14.6%) and Russia (12.1%) and the main countries of consignment were Finland (14.5% of Estonia’s total imports), Germany (10.3%) and Sweden (10.2%). The share of EU countries accounted for 66% and that of CIS countries 15% of total exports in 2012.
The main export goods are machinery and equipment (29%), mineral products (15%), agricultural products and food preparations (9%), metals and products thereof (8%) and wood and products thereof (7%).
